Talk about a witch hunt.
A bride-to-be uninvited 25 friends and family from her Halloween wedding after her mother and grandmother branded the October event “satanic”.
The beleaguered bride recently gathered on a Reddit forum that this fiend had been hiding in detail for a full two years, as the All Hallows’ Eve affair was forewarned long ago, giving haters plenty of time to tease her.
But some spirits stirred the pot just six weeks before the ceremony.
“Suddenly my mother and grandmother decided the wedding was satanic and they want me to make last minute changes,” the woman wrote, adding that her answer was “a resounding no.”
In retaliation, about half of the mother’s family “thought they’d be cool and say they’re not coming” because of what the bride called a “power struggle.”
Instead of shying away from their frivolous behavior, the bride became a de facto grim reaper by disinviting the group—including a sister who served as a bridesmaid.
She further exorcised her demons by sending out an “uninvited invitation” to those other two dozen who had cried boo-hoo.
The bride even made sure the venue banned the skeleton crew from entering the party – one where she planned to wear “a light blue wedding dress” with hair to match.
“My aunt (who was one of the uninvited) told me that people are allowed to disagree with me and that doesn’t mean they can withdraw an invitation from a wedding they’ve made plans to attend.” wrote the bride.
“I told my aunt they had two years to complain, but saying you won’t go 6 weeks before my wedding is bulls-t… I won’t be bullied by my family for this.”
In the comments, many people said that the bride should not feel haunted by her actions.
“You’ve spent two years planning your wedding and this is your special day. It’s understandable to feel frustrated when people try to impose their beliefs at the last minute,” said one.
“They already said they’re not coming, so why are they complaining now?” added another.
“Have fun with guests who aren’t weird,” declared a third for monster mash.
